THE 900 or so skiers and boarders on the Scottish slopes yesterday were joined by another 230 sightseers at Cairn Gorm and Nevis Range.
Glencoe is on a planned two-day closure, to re-open tomorrow leaving four open.
Glenshee was busiest with around 500 on a day that was nice until lunch-time, but was then beset by thick fog and strong winds.
Spokesman Stewart Davidson said, “We had 16 uplifts running and we have not lost anything—cover is holding.”
The Lecht had 10 uplifts running earlier in the day but the chairlift had to go off at 1pm due to the winds.
Snow-making machines were in action on Monday night, for the first time this year, and there is skiing for all abilities, with around 250 out yesterday.
Cairn Gorm Mountain also had a lovely morning with a fair number of uplifts, but the funicular railway had to close at midday as winds blew around 70mph.
At Nevis Range, however, “gondoliers” outnumbered the skiers by 130 to 70.
