HIGH WINDS led to a quieter day on the ski slopes in Scotland yesterday with just over 1100 people out.
Nevis Range tried opening but the winds were just too high and there could be more of the same today, so customers should check first.
CairnGorm Mountain Ltd. managed to run the funicular and the Ptarmigan but only until 10.15am, leaving just the Fiacaill Ridge Poma and Car Park Tow.
Most of the 120 out were skiers.
Glenshee and The Lecht both had around 500 out but the weather was not great at either until the afternoon.
Glenshee was unable to run chairlifts but had 14 other uplifts on a day which started with heavy rain and thick mist which cleared to give a pleasant afternoon.
Stewart Davidson said, “The runs are still fine but there are now some bare patches showing on the hill.”
Like Glenshee, there is snow forecast for The Lecht which had eight of its 15 uplifts running.
Glencoe had the second of its planned closure days but skiers would be best to check today as high winds are forecast.
