Nests to let at lochside

TO LET—single-room des res, would suit growing family!

At least 27 such signs could now go up on the Loch Leven nature reserve as a result of the weekend’s Tree Sparrow Day when volunteers successfully built and installed 27 nest boxes for this declining species in the woodland on the north shore of the loch.

It is hoped they will be occupied in time for the forthcoming breeding season.

And those who took part and built a box can claim their “ownership card” so they can keep track of what happens in their box.

Some willow clearance was also achieved with the help of the volunteers, resulting in a clear view from the harbour to the loch throughout the year.

On February 9 volunteers are being sought for a Tree Planting Day. If you are interested in taking part call the reserve on 01577 864439.
