Pars squad gets comeback boost

Scott Muirhead.

Dunfermline’s Scott Muirhead is on the road to recovery after a metatarsal injury put him out of action for over two months.

Back in November, the 23-year-old had an operation to pin a broken metatarsal and has only just started training with the squad again.

It is unlikely he will be ready for the Hamilton game a week on Saturday but going under the knife should have fixed what has been a recurring problem for Muirhead, who had been troubled by the injury since sustaining a hairline fracture in August.

Meanwhile, Jamie Harris is a step nearer to concluding a deal with an Irish club. Pars boss Jim McIntyre would not confirm what team Harris is talking to but it is understood Dublin clubs Bohemians and St Patrick’s are after the services of the 28-year-old central defender from Swansea.

“Jamie Harris is in Ireland just now discussing a possible transfer,” said McIntyre.

“He’s a good lad but we have a lot of cover in that area.”

After the Pars’ defeat of Morton at the weekend, McIntyre said there could be more players on their way out because of the club’s budget constraints.

“We do have to make cuts but that is part of football management,” he said.

“You’re obviously making decisions on friends but that’s part and parcel of the job and is just something you need to get on with.”
