THE MORRISON’S superstore in Arbroath was celebrating yesterday after raising £4541 for the company’s charity of the year, Asthma UK.
The donation, along with other collections from throughout the country, has helped the supermarket raise a nationwide total of £1 million.
The funds will be used by Asthma UK to conduct research and support popular services such as the Asthma UK Adviceline, as well as Kick Asthma Holidays, educational activity holidays for children and young people with asthma.
Arbroath store general manager George McLachlan said, “We are very pleased to have raised this fantastic amount for such worthwhile charity.
“We have had great fun raising the money and I would like to thank my colleagues and customers, who have worked so hard and donated so generously to achieve this total.”
They raised the money through a wide range of activities including selling charity mascot Bagpuss, pin badges, mobile phone recycling, in-store collections and employee competitions.
