BRITISH TRANSPORT Police are investigating a video posted on the YouTube website showing thrill-seekers climbing up the Forth Rail Bridge.
Rail bosses yesterday condemned the “stupidity and ignorance” of the stunt and confirmed police were investigating the video.
David Simpson, Network Rail route director for Scotland, said, “It is immediately clear from this video that these individuals have illegally accessed the bridge by trespassing on the track.
“They appear to have prepared in advance to carry out this enormously dangerous and irresponsible act and we have passed the footage to the transport police.
“We utterly condemn the content of this video.
“It demonstrates incredible stupidity and ignorance.”
A Network Rail spokesman said the adrenaline junkies had done more than put their own lives at risk.
He said they could have dislodged equipment being used by maintenance contractors, putting bridge staff at risk, and could have caused the bridge to be closed, inconveniencing thousands of travellers.
