A FASCINATING and unique exhibition designed to highlight the things people use to distract themselves when life gets hard has opened at Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery.
Comfort Blankets takes the form of a series of intriguing exhibits created by contemporary textile artist Becky Knight, who decided to use some of people’s vices to good effect.
Becky has created a stunning set of nine large-scale quilts by recycling some surprising materials, with quilts woven from Guinness cans and playing cards just some of the displays on show.
Another beautiful golden yellow quilt, on closer inspection, is made up of Tunnock’s wafer wrappers.
Becky said, “Combining my love of technique and the traditions of quilt making, with its layers of history and often personal memories, I dramatically extended what I considered making a quilt out of.”
Comfort Blankets is on tour from the Ceredigion Museum in Aberystwyth and is due to run until March 23.
