THE LAND-LOCKED crew of RRS Discovery will take to the water next month in an exhilarating effort to raise funds for charity.
Staff and crew at Discovery Point have entered the White Water Rafting Challenge at Grandtully in Perthshire on March 29 to raise funds for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.
The adrenaline junkies are splitting their time between training for the demanding challenge and obtaining sponsorship.
“We know the excellent work the charity does for people with chest, heart and stroke illness,” said team captain Deryck Thomson.
“More people in Scotland die due to heart and stroke conditions than for all forms of cancer combined and I hope we can raise hundreds of pounds to help.
Charity fund-raising director Penelope Blackwell said she was delighted Discovery was taking part.
