Gym goers in food drive

MORE THAN 500 members at Curves’ City Quay and Panmurefield Village clubs in Dundee are shifting the pounds as they collect tonnes of food for The Salvation Army.

In the gym’s tenth annual Food Drive next month and in, support of International Women’s Day on March 8, Curves is encouraging new and existing members to donate non-perishable groceries such as tins of soup, packets of pasta, toiletries or household items.

The huge food banks will then be donated to The Salvation Army which helps those in need.

The initiative runs throughout March and, in return for a few bags of shopping, the fitness and weight loss centre for women will waive the £119 joining fee for new members who join between March 3 and March 16.

Caroline Nichol and Cindy Addison for Curves Dundee, said, “The Food Drive is one of our most popular initiatives and last year we collected 800 lbs of groceries at our clubs alone.”
