RAITH ROVERS winger Derek Carcary is expected to be included in the squad travelling to face Alloa on Saturday, manager John McGlynn revealed yesterday.
Play had to be stopped for well over five minutes near the end of Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Ayr after the 21-year-old, who had replaced David Goodwillie in the first-half, sustained what looked like a serious neck injury in a clash with an Ayr midfielder.
Carcary, who remembers little about the incident, was eventually stretchered off and taken to hospital but, following medical checks, the youngster has been given the all-clear— although he has been asked to take 48 hours’ rest as a precaution.
“Derek had to go to hospital, but he was checked out and there was no lasting damage so he should be back,” said McGlynn.
“He didn’t train on Tuesday night, but he will train this week and should be ready for Saturday.”
Another player who is expected to return after being in the wars over the weekend is defender Todd Lumsden, who was taken off the field through injury on Saturday.
Lumsden required six stitches above the eye wound that forced him off after just 26 minutes, but McGlynn revealed the centre back should also be back in time for this week’s trip to Recreation Park.
Fellow defender Marvin Andrews, whose recurring knee problem kept him out of Saturday’s game, is expected to miss out however, Courier Sport understands, as he is reluctant to play on Alloa’s synthetic surface.
