SNP MSPS at the forefront of the campaign to scrap tolls on the Forth and Tay bridges have presented The Courier with a signed copy of the Abolition of Bridge Tolls (Scotland) Act 2008.
The copy, which was also signed by First Minister Alex Salmond, finance secretary John Swinney and transport minister Stewart Stevenson, was handed over yesterday in the garden lobby at Holyrood. Central Fife MSP Tricia Marwick said, “Abolishing tolls on the Forth and Tay was the first Act of Scotland’s first SNP Government and is a piece of history.
“It would not have happened but for the campaign to scrap the tolls in The Courier and supported by thousands of people in Fife, Tayside and beyond.”
