New arrivals leap in

FORTH PARK Hospital in Kirkcaldy experienced a leap year baby boom yesterday with five babies born to local couples.

First to make her entrance into the world was Alana Jane, who arrived 12 minutes after midnight, weighing 6lbs 14oz.

Her proud parents are Ross and Debbie Henderson from East Wemyss.

Mum Debbie said, “She was very much a surprise leap year baby as she wasn’t due until March 15.

“When I went into labour I hoped she would arrive before the stroke of midnight so she wouldn’t have to wait four years every year to celebrate her birthday but it wasn’t meant to be.

“We are over the moon with our beautiful baby daughter.”

Next was little Lia Wilson, a first baby for Leven couple Gillian and Billy Wilson. She was born eight days late at 12.27am and weighed 6lbs 7oz.

Minutes later, at 12.30am bouncing baby Robert Bate arrived six days late, weighing 8lbs 12oz. His proud mum and dad are first time parents, Simon and Lauren Bate from Saline.

Baby Michael Hutchison was next to arrive at 8.18am, weighing 7lbs 13.5oz. He was 12 days late and is also a first baby for parents, Leanne Stewart and Michael Hutchison from Kirkcaldy.

The fifth baby born was Bridget Rose Kerek, who weighed 8lbs 6.5oz when she was born at 10.24am.

Her parents are Jess and Szabolcs Kerek from Cupar and Bridget is their third child.
