Motorcyclist loses fight for life

A MOTORCYCLIST badly injured in an Angus road accident has lost his fight for life, police said last night.

He was named as Matthew Alisdair Wallace (24), of Thomas Street, Carnoustie.

Mr Wallace died on Friday night in the intensive care unit at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where he was being treated following the crash on the A930 Carnoustie-Monifieth road just over two weeks ago.

He was riding a Suzuki which was in collision with a BMW on a straight stretch of the route near the bends at Conchie’s Corner.

The accident happened during the mid-afternoon of February 17 and forced the closure of the road for some time to allow accident investigations to be carried out.

Police said inquiries were continuing and a report will be submitted to the fiscal.
