A GROUP of senior officials from Sweden was out and about in Arbroath yesterday as part of a fact-finding visit to Scotland organised by the Scottish Leadership Foundation.
The delegates, who are involved in the delivery of a range of services including social work and health, spent time in the town to learn of services for older people and included a visit to the Seaton Grove residential unit in their tour.
They also heard of the Angus Gold 50+ project, which engages older residents in the development and improvement of county services. The project involves community learning and development, health and information and communications technology professionals working with local people.
The visitors, who will also visit the Scottish Parliament and other local authorities, were also told of local work which focuses on issues relating to alcohol and older people.
Angus Council social work and health convener Provost Ruth Leslie Melville said, “We welcome our Swedish visitors to Angus and hope that they will find it useful to meet and speak with our professionals and those who benefit from the Angus Gold 50+ initiative.”
