Imitation firearms found

Imitation firearms were recovered from the tenement in the Charleston area of Dundee that was the scene of an armed police raid on Wednesday, police said yesterday.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, however.

A spokesman said, “Tayside Police can confirm our investigations have now concluded. No one was arrested as a result of the investigation. We can confirm that imitation firearms were recovered.”

Police officers with bullet-proof vests and riot shields had swarmed Buttars Road to investigate the incident.

The street was closed for almost an hour and residents were confined to their homes during the raid.
