AFTER ITS recent success in cleaning up Leven beach and Wemyss Caves, the partnership of Fife Coast and Countryside Trust’s Clean Team and Mobus Community Transport headed inland to clean up Woodend woods in Cowdenbeath.
This scenic community woodland has become the unfortunate victim of fly tipping, with many sites in and around the woodland in need of a spring clean.
Among the 1.5 tonnes of waste collected on the day were 45 gallon paint drums, car wheels, car batteries and extensive industrial waste including large sheets of plastic that were strewn over the forest floor.
The clean team provided an all-terrain vehicle with trailer to help the Mobus volunteers move the material to the skip.
Mobus volunteers will return for another round of cleaning to ensure the woods are returned to their former pristine form.
Anyone who would like to get involved in looking after the countryside should call Eddie on 01592 656095.
