Toll drivers still owed £300,000

DRIVERS WHO bought toll vouchers for the Forth Road Bridge are still owed £300,000 in unclaimed refunds.

Bridge operator Forth Estuary Transport Authority is urging anyone who used the voucher system to look for their tickets and claim what they are owed before the May 9 deadline.

Before tolls were scrapped on February 11, bridge users could buy books of pre-paid vouchers. Cars and light vehicles saved 10% while heavy goods vehicles saved 35%.

FETA said more than £100,000 worth of vouchers had been refunded, but estimated up to £300,000 still had to be claimed.

Gillian Laurie, FETA office manager, said, “I’d encourage anyone with old toll vouchers to come forward before the deadline on May 9 and claim the refund that is due to them.

“Details of how to claim refunds are on the FETA website, www.feta.gov.uk, or you can call us on 0131 331 2831.”

The Tay Road Bridge Joint Board said it had refunded around £6000 of prepaid tolls since the charges were scrapped.

Bridge Manager John Crerar said the bridge had no information on how many refunds were still due as they had not recorded sales of the tokens.

But he encouraged those still holding the vouchers to come forward for a refund.

He said, “They can either come in person to the office or apply by post and we will issue the refund.”
