DUNDEE CHORAL Union gave a special 150th anniversary spring concert to a packed house at the Caird Hall last night.
The DCU performed Verdi’s Requiem, with accompanying soprano Camilla Roberts, mezzo- soprano Anna Burford, tenor Gwyn Jones and bass Robert Winslade Anderson. The conductor was Norman Beedie.
Visitors received a special anniversary programme detailing the company’s history and showing old photographs.
DCU was formed in 1858 by a small group of 27 and was originally called Dundee Amateur Choral Union. Early concerts were held in Trinity House, Yeaman Shore, and also Kinnaird Hall in the city.
The Choral was invited to give the opening concert of the Caird Hall in 1921. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength.
