POLICE WERE last night continuing their investigations into the unexplained death of a Dundee toddler at the weekend.
Officers attended at Heather Boyd’s flat in Balunie Crescent in the early hours of Sunday following the death of her 23-month-old son Brandon Muir.
A post-mortem examination was held later in the day but inquiries were continuing yesterday, with the flat still sealed off.
Detective Chief Inspector Ewen West said a detailed examination was continuing at the home address and there was close liaison with the child’s family.
On behalf of the family, Heather’s uncle Michael Boyd said the family was still attempting to come to terms with what had happened.
“Everybody’s devastated after what’s happened,” he said.
“From what I got out of Heather, Brandon hadn’t been feeling well at all on Saturday and was being sick.
“She went to check on him in the early hours of Sunday morning and he wasn’t responding.”
Heather accompanied sister Courtney (4) to Ninewells Hospital as paramedics worked on Brandon.
Mr Boyd continued, “Heather’s understandably devastated by what’s happened. We all are.
“She is being comforted by her mum and dad and we’re doing all we can to support her.
“Brandon was a lovely wee boy. It’s tragic what’s happened.”
As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
