Fears over plans for airfield festival

A 15,000 CAPACITY dance festival is being planned for Errol Airfield in August.

Plans which would see a total 30,000 people attend the event over the weekend of August 30 and 31, will go before Perth and Kinross Council next month.

The C U There event is being organised by 3Js promotions of Dundee who say it will bring thousands of pounds into the local economy—although several village residents have expressed concerns.

Promoters are planning 15 separate arenas at the festival, featuring a range of music from trance to drum and bass. There will also be a stage featuring bands from the Dundee area.

Tickets will cost £45 a day and £85 for the weekend.

One woman, who asked not to be named, said residents had only become aware of plans for the festival when posters started appearing in the village.

A notice has also gone up on the community notice board saying there has been no community consultation about the event, she said.

She added that the villagers feared the streets around their homes would become gridlocked as there were no parking facilities planned for the festival site.

However, event organisers say that will make the festival greener—and bring money into the area.

A spokesman for the promoters said, “There will be no camping or parking so we want to speak to the hotels as people coming from Glasgow and Edinburgh will need somewhere to stay.

“There will be buses available from Dundee and that makes it a greener festival.”
