PUPILS AND staff at Timmergreens Primary School in Arbroath have made a deserved fuss over head teacher Mrs Barbara Taylor this week.
Mrs Taylor retires today after a teaching career spanning some 37 years.
She started her career at Arbroath’s Warddykes Primary in 1971. In 1985 she was appointed assistant head teacher at Timmergreens, depute head in the early 1990s and then head teacher in 2003 after being in an acting head teacher position for three years.
Staff and former colleagues joined her at a retiral dinner at the Colliston Inn last night where she was presented with a Crown Derby robin and a gold brooch set with Tay pearls.
At school yesterday the children handed over gifts of a Nintendo DS and games, a basket of flowers and each class had made a book of memories for her. The nursery class also presented her with a collage.
Mrs Taylor said she was looking forward to her retiral but said she would miss school life very much. She hopes to travel more in her retirement and do some walking and reading.
