THE SCOTTISH Cheerleading National and European Championships took place in Dundee at the weekend.
Cheerleaders from across the country and as far afield as Sussex attended the three-day Scotcheer event.
Local teams Dundee Ace, Dundee Sharks, Dundee Tangerines, Monifieth High Flyers and the Cupar Diamonds were competing alongside teams from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness.
Since the event’s inception back in 2000, the overall standard of the competitors has improved greatly and the championships have gone from strength to strength.
Steve Walls, of Scotcheer, said, “It’s been another successful year and the staff at the Caird Hall have been a great help.
“Unfortunately, we’ve had to turn a lot of teams away due to the growing scale of the event and teams from Holland and the USA have been struggling to find accommodation.”
Mr Walls estimated that over 10,000 visitors have passed through the doors of the Caird Hall over the course of the event. “It’s been really busy and we’ve tried to make sure as many people as possible have been able to get tickets.”
