Chef killed after car hits wall

A YOUNG chef died when his car left the road and struck a boundary wall in north-east Fife in the early hours yesterday.

Shobit Motwani (23) was returning home after a shift at the Fairmont St Andrews Hotel when the accident occurred around 12.20 am.

He was alone in his Ford Mondeo and no other vehicle was involved in the incident on the A917 between Boarhills and St Andrews, near Brownhills Farm.

Mr Motwani was from India but was living in King Street, St Andrews. His family in India were informed yesterday.

Last night a spokesman for Fairmont St Andrews said, “Shobit Motwani was a great employee and a popular member of staff who will be sadly missed by his friends and colleagues.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this desperately sad time.”
