Climber still in hospital after falling 80 feet

A STUDENT climber who fell nearly 80 feet off a crag is still recovering in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where his current condition is said to be “not life-threatening.”

The 21-year-old Edinburgh man was climbing with fellow students at Craigiebarns hill, near Dunkeld, on Sunday at 4pm when he fell.

Tayside Police arrived at the scene and called in the services of ARCC (the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordinator Centre), based at RAF Kinloss, who flew the injured man to Ninewells Hospital.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said last night, “The student is still recovering today in hospital where he is being treated for a broken elbow, fractured wrist and various cuts and bruises.

“But his injuries are not life-threatening.”
