A BULGARIAN man has appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in connection with an alleged armed robbery at a Glenrothes bookmakers on Sunday.
Nayden Zhelyazkov (27), of Church Street, Glenrothes, appeared in private before Sheriff Paul Arthurson on a petition alleging robbery with a firearm or imitation firearm and assault.
Zhelyazkov made no plea or declaration, was committed for further examination and was remanded in custody.
The appearance follows an incident at the Ladbrokes betting shop near Glenrothes bus station at around 6pm on Sunday when it is alleged a man threatened staff with what appeared to be a gun.
A man made off with a large four-figure sum of money before running off through the bus station towards the Golden Acorn pub.
