LESLIE PRIMARY became the 50th school to achieve eco-school status yesterday, marking the occasion by unfurling a green flag.
Pupils joined staff, parents and representatives from businesses involved with the project to raise the flag in a ceremony at 2pm.
The programme aims to make environmental and global issues an intrinsic part of children’s lives and raise awareness in the school and community.
Head teacher Lily Proudfoot said, “We have been working towards this for three years and have progressed from bronze, to silver and now to the green flag.
“I must thank Lomond Homes, who donated and installed the flag pole, and also Tullis Russell, who donated funds for our litter bins.”
