Students’ help for Jolanta Fund

A GROUP of around 30 international students at Angus College yesterday completed a six-mile sponsored walk for the Jolanta Fund.

They were so moved by the death of Lithuanian woman Jolanta Bledaite, whose body parts were found on Arbroath beach, they felt they had to raise money for the fund in her name.

The students, who come from all over the world, are part of the college’s English course for speakers of other languages.

The walk took place along the cliffs at Auchmithie.

Course leader Pauline Pow said, “The death of Jolanta has touched all of us and for this group of students, in particular, there is a strong empathy.

“They know how tough it can be at times making your way in a foreign country and they wanted to show their support for her family by raising as much money as possible.”

The proceeds are to be donated to Angus Council’s official fund, which is raising money to support Jolanta’s family and for the transport of her remains to her home country.
