United plan pre-season trip to Dublin

DUNDEE UNITED have confirmed they will be going to the Republic of Ireland for their pre-season trip.

The Tangerines hope to play two games in Dublin—on Monday, July 14 and Wednesday 16 th—although the opposition has yet to be finalised.

“We will be going to Dublin for a few days and will be lining up a couple of games,” said manager Craig Levein.

Meanwhile, United look to be emerging as serious candidates to land Dundee full-back Paul Dixon, who played his last game for the Dark Blues against Hamilton Accies on Saturday.

St Johnstone, St Mirren and Kilmarnock are all interested in the player but Tannadice could be his preferred destination in the summer.

Levein would not be drawn on the matter, merely saying, “Christian Kalvenes only just confirmed the other day that he is going home.

“I will eventually be looking for somebody for cover for Danny Grainger but I am working on other things at the moment.”

United have already been credited with an interest in out-of-contract DUNDEE midfielder Scott Robertson.

Dixon and Robertson will join Gavin Swankie at Dens Park today to meet manager Alex Rae and confirm they are departing. Swankie is being strongly linked with St Johnstone.

Already on their way from Dens are Jani Sturm, Jan Zemlik and Milan Palenik. Of that trio only Palenik was offered a new deal.

Rae is also scheduled to meet up with chairman Bob Brannan to set out details of next season’s budget.
