MARINO FRANCHITTI made a dream debut in the HISAQ Competition Porsche 997 GT3 RSR to win the four-hour second round of the VLN Championship at Germany’s Nordschliefe circuit.

Team partner Frank Stippler qualified the Porsche on pole and despite some electrical problems the pair delivered a comfortable victory.

“This is my first time driving the 997 and it’s a fantastic car,” said Franchitti.

“It was a huge amount of fun being part of it and I can’t wait to get back here next month for the Nurburgring 24-hour race.”

Franchitti is competing in the 2008 American Le Mans Series driving the Dyson Racing Porsche RS Spyder with co-driver Butch Leitzinger and lies fourth in the drivers’ points table.
