Brave Chloe’s toddle effort to raise charity cash

A brave west Fife toddler who was gravely ill at the end of last year will be taking part in the Dunfermline Half-Marathon to help the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

Chloe Gordon (2) was rushed to the hospital with kidney problems just before Christmas.

After a week she was well enough to go home and her family have started a fund-raising campaign to thank staff at the hospital for the care they provided.

Dunfermline councillor Joe Rosiejak, who is Chloe’s mother’s uncle, has gathered the support of colleagues at Dunfermline Carnegie Rotary Club.

This Sunday, Rotarians will be taking turns to run stretches of the half-marathon, along with Chloe’s dad Paul and the tot herself.

They plan to help Chloe toddle the last few yards to the finishing line with her big sister Yasmine (6) and Hamish, the club’s fund-raising bear.

While the Rotary club runs the race in relay, the youngster’s grandmothers plan to take on all 13 miles.

Mr Rosiejak said, “It’s our way of saying thank you to the paramedics and other staff who were marvellous when Chloe was ill. We’d like to say thank you for saving her life.

“We hope Courier readers will help by sponsoring us or making a contribution on the day.”

At various points along the route, including the Glen Gates, the sorting office and Transy Place, collecting buckets will be at the ready for donations.

Anyone wishing to sponsor the runners can do so by contacting Mr Rosiejak.

Half of the money raised will go to the Sick Kids Hospital and the rest to local charities.
