A FIFE father appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday charged with the murder of his son and daughter at a house in Buckhaven over the weekend.

Robert Thomson (49), of Muiredge Cottages, Methilhaven Road, Buckhaven, appeared in private before Sheriff Derek O’Carroll on a petition alleging that he stabbed both 25-year-old Michelle Thomson and seven-year-old Ryan Thomson repeatedly on the body and did murder them on Saturday, May 3.

Thomson made no plea or declaration, was committed for further examination and was remanded in custody.

No application for bail was made and Thomson is expected to appear again before the court on Tuesday.

His first appearance comes after he was discharged from Dunfermline’s Queen Margaret Hospital, where he was being treated for serious injuries, on Monday.

Thomson’s two children were found fatally injured by their mother June on Saturday evening.
