SEARCH AND rescue teams were scrambled to Glen Clova yesterday evening after a walker had failed to return to his vehicle.

However, the man was found safe and well. He walked off the hills shortly after the alert was first given.

Search and rescue teams were still on their way to the scene at the time of the all clear.

A police spokesman said, “We had reports earlier this evening of an elderly hill-walker who had failed to return from a trip up Clova.”

He added, “Obviously police were deployed, a search and rescue team was dispatched and a helicopter was also en route to assist at the location.

“However, the walker effectively walked off the hill at 21.00 hours and is safe and well,” the spokesman added.
