ONE MAN was killed and another badly injured in a road accident near Coupar Angus last night.

The one-vehicle accident happened at around 8.20pm on the Coupar Angus to Blairgowrie road at the Bendochy crossroads.

A trauma team attended and the injured man was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance under police escort.

Fire units from Coupar Angus and Blairgowrie were also at the scene.

The road was closed for a time while accident investigators examined the scene.

The identity of the fatality will not be released until next of kin have been informed.

Tayside Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who saw a Green Land Rover Discovery being driven in the Rosemount Blairgowrie area or southwards towards Coupar Angus at this time (tel 0845 600 5705).
