Jamaican drugs mule behind bars

A JAMAICAN drugs mule caught with almost £50,000 worth of cocaine and heroin in Dundee was jailed for three years when she appeared at the city’s sheriff court yesterday.

Nordia Andrea Ellington Hylton (32) gave an address in Peckham, London, but had been in Cornton Vale since appearing on indictment and admitting the charges.

She admitted that on October 15, 2005, at various locations, particularly Seagate Bus Station and the A90 at Powrie Brae, while acting with another, she was concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin, also admitting failing to attend for court on June 1, 2006.

Sheriff Tom Hughes made no recommendation regarding deportation.

Police identified Hylton on the A90 and tracked the car in which she was travelling until they had a chance to stop it.

Detective Sergeant Robert Dow said traffickers like Hylton were known to travel all over the country and she was understood to have started her journey down south.

“We are delighted that Tayside Police were again successful in removing such a large quantity of class-A drugs from circulation,” he added.

“This continues our fight against drug dealing and trafficking.”
