SWEET-TOOTHED residents are aiming to raise a lot of dough for charity while indulging in some delicious doughnuts.

Bakeries throughout Scotland are cooking up all manner of tasty treats to mark the onset of national doughnut week.

Those snacking in Crieff are among the thousands helping the Children’s Trust after staff at Campbell’s pledged to donate 8p from every doughnut.

Money raised will be used to provide specialist care, treatment, education and rehabilitation for children with profound disabilities and complex health needs.

Campbell’s bakery managing director Iain Campbell said, “We are introducing some tasty new varieties of doughnut during the week and...hope to raise as much money as we can for the worthwhile work of the Children’s Trust.

“So far, this national event has raised almost £100,000 which has made a huge difference to the lives of many children all over the UK.”

National doughnut week ends on Saturday.
