T IN THE Park fans looking to add another day’s camping to their weekend are being offered the chance to upgrade their current passes to include Thursday night for the first time, writes Alan Wilson, Rocktalk writer.

Festival organisers Big Day Out and founding partners Tennent’s Lager have announced that festival-goers lucky enough to be in possession of a weekend with camping ticket can upgrade now to go to Balado a day early.

Revellers are being urged to register as soon as possible as the deadline to upgrade for £11 is Wednesday, May 30.

It means Thursday up-graders can beat the Friday rush and ensure that they and their friends pick the best camping spots, while also helping to ensure that the influx of festival-goers is phased in, thus avoiding a repeat of the chaotic scenes last year.

Thursday campers can also make sure that they are first into the main arena on Friday to catch this year’s extended evening of entertainment.

Upgrades for Thursday camping are available from point of purchase—if tickets have been purchased from:

* Ticketmaster: festival-goers should contact Ticketmaster on 08444 99 99 90.

* All other on-line outlets (eg NME.com, see tickets, etc)

* Over the counter outlets (eg Tickets Scotland, Groucho’s)

Festival-goers must remember to have their booking reference receipt/proof of purchase, ID and payment method ready with them.

They can also turn their camping into a luxury experience with the introduction of The Residence.

Those who can upgrade can choose from a room at the Yurt Hotel, stay in Tipis or pod pads.
