A FORMER Angus man is grieving after his wife died just two days after giving birth to twins.
Wendy Anderson, who had given up her career to look after her growing family, died at Western General Infirmary in Edinburgh on May 7—just 48 hours after the birth of her twins Alexander and Mackenzie.
The 38-year-old is also survived by her three other children Jock, Hamish and Una and her husband Ken, who originally comes from Angus.
Yesterday Mr Anderson released a statement about his wife’s death.
It said, “This has been a hugely distressing and difficult time for the all the family and we are greatly saddened by Wendy’s passing.
“I want all the children, as much as possible, to live ordinary lives despite what has happened and, for that reason, would like to ask for our privacy to be respected at this time.”
Mrs Anderson moved to Scotland in 2002 after being appointed to the post of senior director with Edinburgh-based investment management company Martin Currie.
She had previously worked with an investment bank in London.
Managing director of Martin Currie Andy Sowerby said Mrs Anderson’s death had come as a terrible shock to all her former colleagues.
He said, “We were devastated when we heard the news. A valued employee and a trusted and respected friend, all our thoughts are with her family at this time.”
Mrs Anderson’s funeral will take place at Mortonhall Crematorium in Edinburgh on Saturday and a memorial service will be held later.
