ANGUS YOUNGSTERS are receiving hands-on experience to help them cope with emergency situations at home and out and about.
The Jock Neish Scouting Centre at Tannadice, near Forfar, is the venue for the annual Safe Angus programme, with over 700 10 and 11-year-olds set to participate in the initiative.
The youngsters learn practical ways to deal with dangers.
The event is supported by Angus Council, Tayside Police, Tayside Fire and Rescue, NHS Tayside and other community partners.
Special needs pupils from Angus secondaries will also be there this month and will be faced with real-life scenarios depicting emergency situations.
The pupils assess the dangers and risks and learn how to deal with them in a safe setting. They are also faced with a knowledge check in a quiz.
Inverbrothock, Lintrathen and Airlie primary children were at the centre yesterday and the programme will continue today and into next week with visits from Montrose, Brechin, Forfar and Arbroath pupils.
