PLANTS may not be renowned for being fleet of foot but some rare and exotic varieties ‘raced’ off the tables at a special sale in Forfar on Saturday.
Within half an hour of the start, most of the plants in the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens sale had already gone.
The ever-popular event, which was held in the Guide Hall at the town’s Myre car park, regularly attracts enthusiastic gardeners from all corners of the county and beyond—all eager to pick up something unique for their garden.
Many of the plants and flowers on sale are “de-listed” from UK buying guides, meaning they are not normally available for sale to the public through nurseries or garden centres.
So the chance to pick up some interesting flora proved enticing for many green-fingered folk—with a queue forming outside the doors of the hall in the moments before the event got under way.
And by lunchtime, just 90 minutes later, it was all over.
