FOLLOWING A great success last summer, Culross Abbey coffee shop is again open for business.

Congregation member John Laird set up the fund-raising coffee shop with a team of volunteers in the historic village’s Stephen Memorial Hall.

Initially the decision was taken to open it twice a week before demand made it necessary to open it for a third day.

Not only did the venture meet its financial goal, but it provided a meeting place for local and regular customers and a venue for those visiting Culross from all parts of the globe.

The volunteers greeted people from as far away as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, Europe and Israel.

From its opening day yesterday the coffee shop will open four days a week until the end of September.

Every week it will run from 10am to 1pm on Tuesdays to Fridays offering the same traditional mix of home baking and refreshments.

All money raised will go into SCART (Support Culross Abbey Regeneration Trust fund) for the regeneration of interest in the historic value of the abbey and maintenance of the fabric of the abbey and its manse.
