PUPILS AT Kirkland High School in Methil cooked up a new cake design yesterday as part of a competition sponsored by bakers R. T. Stuart.

It involved over 120 first year students attempting to dream up a sweet capable of being mass produced by the Buckhaven firm.

Rector Ronnie Ross said, “Enterprise skills form an important part of the curriculum. The Stuart’s Challenge offers our first year pupils the opportunity to gain an introduction to some of the skills required to become successful future entrepreneurs.”

A judging panel including Carole Tricker, Keith Stuart (R. T Stuart), Mr Ross and John Brown (depute rector), graded the cakes on presentation, product, marketing, design and production. Students received guidance from Adam Smith College chef Pam Fowlis and catering and hospitality student Gemma Bain, with Class 1P1 the overall winners with their entry Vinyl Countdown.
