Dundee will ‘probably’ lose McDonald

Kevin McDonald.

DUNDEE BOSS Alex Rae acknowledged yesterday that the club’s under-21 international midfielder Kevin McDonald will likely be allowed to move on this summer if a suitable offer is received.

But Rae stressed that, despite a host of clubs being linked with the player, no such bid has been tabled.

“We’re under no illusions about how well Kevin did for us last season,’’ said Rae.

“And given, the financial implications for the club, were we to be offered a substantial sum of money for him we’d probably have to let Kevin go.

“But at the moment that’s all hypothetical as I’m not aware of any such offer being made to us.’’

The Dark Blues—who this week signed Darren Young on a free transfer from Dunfermline—have also been holding signing talks with Young’s former East End Park team-mate, Stephen Simmons.

David Worrell has left the club by mutual consent. The full-back, who joined last summer after his release from Rotherham, made 26 appearances for the Dens Park club.
