Outdoor access festival

Steering the Natural Connections Outdoor Learning Centre’s dragon boat at Lochore Meadows yesterday is project officer Lynne Bramall with her crew of P7 pupils from Benarty primary school.

DRAGON BOAT racing was one of the highlights of Fife’s first outdoor access festival at Lochore Meadows Country Park yesterday.

Organised by the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, the festival aimed to encourage more people to take advantage of the great outdoors.

Dragon boat racing, which has its origins in China and which dates back 200 years, is said to be one of the fastest growing watersports in the country.

There is even a formal dragon boat racing association south of the border that is complete with teams that compete against each other in a number of leagues.
