Support for charity motorbike challenge

A FIFE-BASED firm are doing their bit to help the Kilts Across America campaign raise funds for the Moebius Research Trust.

Evans Easyspace, which has bases in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline, is holding a wine and nibbles evening at their premises at Pitreavie Industrial Estate, Dunfermline, on Tuesday, June 17, at 6pm.

Colin Read and Iain Whyte, the Kilts Across America team from Port Seton, are attempting to drive their motorbikes from one side of America to the other in a bid to raise £200,000 for research into the cause of Moebius Syndrome.

Colin’s son, George, has the rare condition, which means he hardly has any facial expressions.

Colin and Iain plan to start from New York on June 26 and finish in Los Angeles on July 6, a total ride of 3300 miles averaging at 330 a day.

Janet Torley, from Events for Business Ltd which is supporting the cause, said she hoped as many people as possible would support the pair.

“Numerous ex-pats and well wishers are meeting up with them on their journey and due to the size their entourage is becoming, it is now being suggested that they leave from Times Square to fit everybody in,” she said.

“There are Emails coming in daily from Americans who are wanting to drive through their home state on their Harleys with them.

“On top of all of this they will be attending business breakfast meetings every day before setting off.

“These contain some of the biggest business entrepreneurs in America today, so more chance to raise the money.”

At Evans Easyspace event there will also be a charity auction.
