A HIMALAYAN village in Nepal will once again benefit from a musical evening featuring the Fair City Singers at Caputh Church.
The performance comes ahead of an Italian tour by the popular youth choir this summer.
Money from the June 13 show will go towards the First Steps Himalaya project which aims to improve the health and nutrition of children in a country where thousands of under-fives die each year from water-related diseases.
The project is supported by the whole community and led by the village schoolmaster.
In 2001, the proceeds from an evening of song with Carole Marnoch and Dervla Murphy raised over £1300 to install a clean water system to Kadambas.
Further donations have provided three neighbouring villages with clean water and the lives of over 1000 people have been transformed.
The Fair City Singers have been selected from hundreds of music groups to perform in Bologna at The International Society of Music Educator’s 28th World Conference and will perform as part of an Italian tour this summer.
