Polar bear is sighted in town centre

Frosty the polar bear makes a friend in eight-month-old Emma Rooney.

A WAYWARD polar bear turned heads and drew gasps as it made its way through Forfar yesterday.

The unusual spectacle brought a sparkle to the town centre and lifted the spirits of people battling the dreich weather.

Frosty, as the cuddly toy bear has been christened, is the mascot of an ice-themed children’s soft-play centre being built in the town.

The project, costing six figures, will enter its next phase when the play equipment—such as ice slides—will be installed.

As well as safeguarding employment among contractors working on the centre, it has so far created six jobs, with more being recruited before it opens either at the end of next month or the beginning of July.
