Dundee United star held after club fracas

A DUNDEE United footballer has been arrested after a violent incident in a Stirling nightspot.

Striker David Goodwillie (19) was charged following an alleged dancefloor fracas in the city’s plush Dusk nightclub.

It is understood one clubber suffered a concussion in the May 27 incident and needed stitches to a gash in his head.

A spokesman for Central Scotland Police said, “We can confirm that a 19-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal for an alleged assault.

“The man was released on an undertaking.”

Goodwillie, who has recently returned from a spell on loan at Raith Rovers, is thought to figure highly in manager Craig Levein’s plans for next season.

He was spotted in a Scottish Youth FA trial and signed for the club at the age of 14.

Goodwillie is due in court in relation to the incident on June 26.

A spokesperson for Dundee United said the club would not be making any comment on the matter at this stage.
