A FULL inquiry has been called for into the loss of personal details of around 50 teachers at Bell Baxter High School in Cupar.
MP Sir Menzies Campbell and MSP Iain Smith made the call after The Courier revealed yesterday that the data had been lost after being sent by Fife Council to Disclosure Scotland.
On the forms, required to check employees’ suitability to work with children, were home addresses, dates of birth and passport and driving licence information.
Fife Council insisted the documents had been sent recorded delivery and signed for at the other end, but Disclosure Scotland said it had received only three.
Sir Menzies and Mr Smith said questions must be asked, and added, “It is imperative that these missing documents are traced and recovered as a matter of utmost urgency.
“We are available to offer help and advice to any teacher who has been affected.”
Teachers were said to be anxious the information could be used fraudulently.
