A TEENAGE driver was airlifted to hospital after a serious road accident in west Fife yesterday.
The police appealed for witnesses to the crash, which left the 17-year-old male with serious leg and pelvic injuries.
The accident happened at around 2.30pm on the A907 near Bogside and involved a car and a heavy goods vehicle.
The teenager was driving his blue Ford Fiesta east on the road, which links Dunfermline to the Gartarry roundabout, when the accident happened near the entrance to the Fife Silica Sands quarry.
Two fire crews from Dunfermline and one from Rosyth were joined by the emergency tender from Lochgelly.
Firefighters worked to free the teenager before he was taken by helicopter to Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
The road remained closed until 8pm.
Inspector David Houston appealed for anyone who saw these vehicles before the crash to call 01592 251111 as soon as possible.
