RAITH ROVERS have completed the signing of midfielder Allan Walker from Livingston on a two-year deal.
The 22-year-old spent a two-month period on loan at Stark’s Park at the end of 2007 and has now put pen to paper on a contract keeping him at the Kirkcaldy club until 2010.
Walker made seven appearances for Raith before being forced to return to Almondvale for the remainder of the season, but the midfielder has been eager to make a permanent switch to Rovers since his contract at Livi expired last month.
Raith manager John McGlynn said Walker will be very much in his plans as he seeks to rebuild his midfield.
“Allan did very well for the club while on loan midway through last season,” he said.
“He really enjoyed his time at Raith Rovers then, and was very keen to join us now.
“He will add strength, aggression and skill to our central midfield, where we are now looking very strong—he will be a big asset to the football club.”
COWDENBEATH’S new boss Danny Lennon was yesterday drawing up a list of signing targets on his first day in the Central Park hot seat after taking over from sacked Brian Welsh.
The former Hibs and Raith Rovers midfield player, who had been Welsh’s assistant, said, “First and foremost I am looking for players to fit in with my ethos—good footballers and athletes with a bit of physical presence.
“I will not be making any panic moves because we have a great crop of young kids coming through at the club and I would not hesitate to promote them.”
